Same song & dance
As I leave in the middle of the night
Regret
Sorrow
Same song & dance
Sex with another woman without commitment
Trying to fill the void
Fill the void in my heart
I must do better
Same song & dance
As I leave in the middle of the night
Regret
Sorrow
Same song & dance
Sex with another woman without commitment
Trying to fill the void
Fill the void in my heart
I must do better
May I show compassion
To even those who harm others
May I always seek peace
When others choose violence
May I be grateful
Even when life gets tough
May I seek forgiveness
Knowing its a gift to myself
May I choose love
When fear crosses my mind
May I choose freedom
Over security
May I always seek to understand others
Not judge
May I be in this present moment
Even when my mind drifts to the past or future
I have lived in paradise
Warm weather
Palm trees
Tall lush mountains above me
I have travelled far & wide
In search of adventure
Hawaii
Japan
New Zealand
Vietnam
Thailand
I have been tested on this journey
Brought down to my knees
Fearful of uncertainty
But I kept going
Faith in the path unknown
As I pack my bag one last time
Tears fall down my cheeks
Joy of the many great memories
Flooding my mind
Many new friends
So much growth
Beautiful mountains, ocean, & people
It was worth every penny spent
Worth every fearful moment
On my path unknown
Billions of humans
All which are holy
No matter
How lost
Broken
Confused
Hurt
Blinded by anger
Suffocated in fear
I vow to see the holiness in all
But first
I must treat myself
As a holy man
No matter how lost
Or broken I am.
What is our purpose?
Money?
Fame?
Is our only purpose in life to consume & buy stuff?
I believe our purpose on this planet is much more than what’s listed above.
We are here,
To inspire.
To create.
To help others.
To protect the innocent.
We are much more than our career, bank account, awards, and trinkets.
Inspired by the late Chester Bennington & the band Linkin Park’s song “One More Light”.
I wake today,
Fueled not by apathy,
But compassion.
For the 150 billion of animals slaughtered each year.
For the million of children who die from disease and famine.
For those who commit suicide & those who suffer silently each day.
I vow to live a life that reduces the amount of suffering I cause in this world.
To speak for those who have no voice.
Who cares if one more light goes out in the sky of billions stars?
I do.
All life is precious.
Thank you farmers for growing my vegetables.
Thank you farm workers for bearing the withering sun.
Thank you food packers and factory workers.
Thank you truck drivers.
Thank you grocery store clerk’s.
Thank you police officers.
Thank you fireman.
Thank you soldiers.
Thank you to dish washers, cleaners, bussers, servers, cashier’s, office workers, engineers, doctors, lawyers, laborers, salesman, and stockers.
I’m grateful for your hard work. 🙏🏼
Why are we here?
What is our purpose?
To mindlessly consume?
To suffer & cause suffering?
Humanity has hit a turning point.
We can not mindlessly consume much longer.
Our path must change.
To a more mindful one.
To uplift and inspire change.
To help alleviate the suffering of all sentient beings.
To save our precious planet from mindless consumerism & ego.
To be the change,
We seek in the universe.
Why do we cling and obsess with the known?
As if we could control everything & everyone around us?
When did we lose our faith in the unknown?
Infinite possibilities lie ahead of us on the path unknown.
Embrace it with excitement & joy.
Throw away the unessential.
Remove the superfluous.
Let go the distractions & pacifiers.
Delete the clutter.
Take charge of your life.
Minimalism.
Intentional living.
It’s a way of life.
A life of simplicity.
Not chaos.
Minimalism allows us to live mindfully.
To touch freedom, joy, and calmness.
To focus on what truly matters.
So let go of the junk.
Whether that be material, digital, or mental.
Let go of the trinkets, trophies, and trivial.
Embrace your new found freedom.
Your new life can be filled with meaning, not stuff.
